About Duluth 709 Baseball

Our Mission

Our mission is to unify baseball in Duluth while working together to provide consistent experiences and opportunities for our players, regardless of their ability level or ability to pay.  Through shared resources amongst the Duluth ISD 709 area, the organization hopes to bridge the baseball community to provide all levels of baseball, from our neighborhood house leagues all the way to our high schools and share in these successes.

History

2019 Rec State Champions - 14/15 Marshall

Duluth 709 Baseball began in 2018 and is comprised of members from Western, Central, Eastern and Lake Park baseball associations in Duluth.  Each individual association approved a change to Gopher State Baseball for 13, 14 and 15-year-old age levels in 2018.

In 2019 we added a 12-year old option to play with 13-year old’s in league play, a 10/11 majors level option at Lake Park and Western Baseball, and tournament team opportunities down to the 10-year old level as well as added a 15 year old tournament team.  In this format, we registered over 275 league and 135 tournament players and have grown to 8 majors (10/11U) teams, 7 modified (12/13U) teams, 5 full field (14/15U) teams as well as 12 tournament teams at multiple skill levels.

2019 Northland Big League Champions - 12/13 East Black

League teams at the 12/13 & 14/15 year old levels are divided between the high school boundary lines as Denfeld Baseball & East Baseball, with the approach of lining up with the high school programs (Marshall players use the high school boundary lines, but may have their own team based on the number of participants at an age level).  Rosters are put together shortly after registration and player evaluations end.  There are 2 divisions, 12/13U (6th/7th Grade) and 14/15U (8th/9th Grade) that play in the Northland Big League against other area teams.  League teams at the 10/11U Majors level are put together in conjunction with the local associations (Western and Lake Park Baseball).
